GTA 6 Official Release Date: November 19, 2026

Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

This is the second confirmed delay. The game was originally targeting 2025, then officially moved to May 26, 2026, and most recently pushed again to November. Rockstar’s statement confirmed the extra time is needed to meet their quality standards.

The PC release has not been officially dated but is widely expected to follow in 2027, consistent with Rockstar’s pattern on previous titles.

Why Was GTA 6 Delayed Again?

Rockstar has been careful with their wording, but Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed in a February 2026 earnings call that the delay is about polish — not about the game being fundamentally incomplete. He also confirmed that new marketing including trailers will begin in summer 2026.

What Platforms Will GTA 6 Be On?

  • PlayStation 5 ✅ — November 19, 2026 (officially confirmed)
  • Xbox Series X/S ✅ — November 19, 2026 (officially confirmed)
  • PC — Not officially dated. Expected 2027 based on Rockstar’s history

There is currently no confirmed PS4 or Xbox One version. GTA 6 appears to be a next-gen exclusive.

What We Know About GTA 6 (Confirmed by Rockstar)

Setting: Vice City returns — Rockstar’s fictional version of Miami, set in the state of Leonida based on Florida. Officially shown in trailers.

Characters: You play as Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — confirmed in Rockstar’s official trailers. Lucia is the first non-optional female protagonist in GTA history.

Map: Leonida includes urban Vice City, coastal areas, swamps, and rural zones. Rockstar has not officially confirmed the exact map size.

What Leaks and Insiders Are Saying

Beyond what Rockstar has officially confirmed, credible leaks and insider reports have suggested:

  • The map may be significantly larger than GTA 5’s — some estimates suggest roughly double the size, though Rockstar has not confirmed this
  • A large number of buildings may be enterable, representing a major upgrade from GTA 5
  • The wanted system and police AI have been overhauled
  • Dynamic weather including hurricanes and flooding

These are based on leaked footage and insider reports, not official Rockstar announcements. Treat them as strong rumors until confirmed.
