GTA 6 Official Release Date: November 19, 2026
After years of waiting, Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026 — for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
This is the second delay for the game. It was originally targeting a 2025 release, then pushed to May 26, 2026, and most recently delayed again to November. Rockstar’s official statement explained the extra time is needed to deliver the level of polish players expect.
The PC release is expected to follow in 2027, as has been Rockstar’s pattern with previous titles.
Why Was GTA 6 Delayed Again?
Rockstar has been tight-lipped on specifics, but Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed in a February 2026 earnings call that the delay is about quality — not about the game being unfinished. He also teased that new marketing, including trailers, will begin in summer 2026, meaning we’ll be seeing a lot more of the game very soon.

There is currently no confirmed last-gen (PS4/Xbox One) version. GTA 6 is a next-gen exclusive.
What We Know About GTA 6 So Far
Setting: Vice City returns — a fictional version of Miami set in the state of Leonida (based on Florida). Expect beaches, swamps, urban sprawl, and coastal vibes unlike anything in GTA 5.
Characters: You’ll play as both Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — a romantic criminal duo. Lucia is the first non-optional female protagonist in GTA history.
Map Size: Leaks suggest the map is roughly double the size of GTA 5’s map, with over 700 enterable businesses and buildings.
Economy: Early reports suggest a massive economy overhaul. Money will play a far more central role than in GTA 5, with criminal enterprises, businesses, and heists all tied into a deeper financial system.
